Homemade Papaya face gel

Papaya face gel

I wanted to share an amazing anti-ageing face massage gel. This is a wonderful face massage gel that helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines and regular use makes the skin glow and it also greatly reduces premature ageing of the skin. The base for this gel is papaya.

Papaya is full of antioxidants and when we use it for massage, it does wonders to the skin. I have actually tried store-bought papaya gel before but I soon found out that it was just chemical-based gel mixed with synthetic colour and it did not do anything to my skin so I started using fresh papaya pulp and it made a huge difference.

The problem with using fresh pulp is it is too runny and keeps dripping all over when we use it for a massage so I started making it into a gel form using few other ingredients that have wonderful anti-ageing properties.

To make papaya pulp into a gel, I use gelatin. Gelatin is derived from collagen and is very rich in protein. As we age, we tend to lose collagen which is the leading cause of skin sagging.

Consuming collagen-rich foods and also applying it externally along with antioxidant-rich ingredients is the key to preventing premature ageing of the skin and maintaining a youthful look. If you start using this gel every day, you will notice that your skin is soft, supple and glowing.

Try to start using this gel as early as you can. To make the papaya pulp, first cut ripe papaya, peel the outer skin, cut into pieces, take it in a mixer and grind into a fine paste without adding any water. Once finely ground, strain it using soup strainer to get a smooth paste.

Take 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of water in a bowl. Add in a quarter teaspoon of Kasturi turmeric powder to it. Now mix well with a spoon till there are no lumps. Usingkasturi turmeric will prevent skin staining as opposed to using normal turmeric.

Now sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin on top. Now let the gelatin bloom which will take about 2 to 3 minutes. Letting the gelatin bloom before dissolving will ensure that the gelatin dissolves evenly. Now using a double boiler heat till the gelatin dissolves completely.

Now to the dissolved gelatin mixture add in 1 1/2 tablespoons of the ground papaya pulp. Finally, add in 1/2teaspoon of vegetable glycerin. Now mix well till you get a smooth mixture. If you don't strain the papaya pulp, the gel will be very lumpy so make sure that you strain the papaya before using.

Also, the gelatin should be completely dissolved else you won't get a smooth mixture like this. Once completely mixed well, leave it in the fridge for about 15 to 20 minutes till it gets.

After about 15 to 20 minutes the mixture would have gelled. Now using a whisk mix it into a smooth pulp. When the gel sets, it will set into one big lump so it is important to mix once before using. Now it is ready to be used as a massage gel.

To use, take the gel and apply it all over the face and neck. Now using upward strokes massage gently for a few minutes every day before going to bed. After massaging, you can wash it off and apply a serum and night cream as usual.

You can store the leftovers in the fridge, it will last well for about 4 to5 days but each time before using, mix it well and then use. I prefer to use this as a massage gel and wash it off after using and you'll find an incredible difference in your skin tone with just a few days of regular use.

The consistency of this gel is perfect for a massage but if you want it runnier, you can use 2 tablespoons each of water and papaya pulp in this recipe. Do give this recipe a try without fail.
